Make important medical discoveries that save lives

The Infectious Disease Research Institute (IDRI), carrying out the basic research on infectious diseases and antimicrobial resistance, is part of the core structure of APFID.
Three major labs constitute the IDRI; the Molecular Microbiology Lab, Animal Experiment Lab, and In vitro Research Lab. In the Molecular Microbiology Lab, basic research on the mechanism of antimicrobial resistance and molecular epidemiology are carried out. In the Animal Lab, several animal models such as mouse peritonitis and rabbit meningitis are developed and are used for research on pathogenesis of infectious diseases and treatment of them. In the In vitro Research Lab, in vitro efficacies of antimicrobials are tested and biofilm studies are carried out. These three labs of IDRI collaborate organically when required.
